Throughout November, every Friday, a series of special dinners takes place in Poreč, Tar-Vabriga and Funtana, dedicated to one of the world’s most renowned wine varieties – Cabernet Sauvignon – and the rich tradition of blue fish along the Istrian coast.

Each week, the event moves to a new culinary venue, offering guests the opportunity to experience the harmony of the sea, vineyards and history through carefully crafted menus and outstanding wines. Alongside exceptional flavours that awaken all the senses, participants will hear captivating stories about the nearly 150-year history of Cabernet Sauvignon in Istria, as well as about blue fish, whose fishing and consumption in this region date back to the 14th century.

Cabernet Sauvignon, a variety created almost 500 years ago through a chance crossing of Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc, originates from Bordeaux and is today the most widely planted grape variety in the world. In Istria, it has found a distinctive terroir and identity, revealing its unexpected yet harmonious character when paired with blue fish.

In 2026, these themed evening events will once again bring together prominent Croatian chefs and experienced sommeliers, who will demonstrate through several courses how tradition and contemporary gastronomy meet in the glass and on the plate.

Join us and discover why blue fish and red wine together create a surprisingly perfect experience.
